Old Me vs. New Me
Changing what was to establish what is through Christ. What does this mean in my life?
During my last month in Tanzania God became more personal with me. Teaching me that my ways wasn't his. Through the way I talked, my bad thoughts, and worldly habits. It was the consistent chats with God that I learned my change was needed in order to become a new person. In the beginning of my redemption I felt a lot of emotions that stirred down from me pushing down on what was right. As a Christian I use to think that there was nothing fun I could do in Christ so it was easy for me to tap back into my old habits. However, now I'm realizing that through new eyes we can find joy through the new.
How do you have fun as a Christian you ask?
Find a new hobby thats artsy, travel the world, learn a new culture, garden, watch a new tv show/movie centered on your spiritual walk, and most of all bring Christ in all that matters in your life. As a new hobby I wanted to created candles!
Well it's obvious that most of you know or should kind of know that drinking, clubbing, smoking, and basically doing things that don't honor your temple aka body and mind isn't right. You see it's not the journey of being holy but it's the journey of doing what's right. For me fighting the urge to do what was wrong had been a struggle for many years because I was doing it in my own strength. So when my friends that I knew I needed to walk away from in my life due to their lifestyle wanted to hang. I thought well if God tells us to walk in love why can't I hang out with them. Don't give those evil thoughts a second chance to have you go back to your old ways. Stay on the path that God created for you and ask him how do I stay clean and how do I have a joy. Most of all tell him that you need help because it will be so helpful.
How do I have a relationship with God if in the Bible he's shown as a spirit with not a lot of personality?
This is a question that I thought of many times. In the beginning of my walk as a first saved Christian I thought God was scary because of the people he strikes down in the first testament. Though the interesting part in the Gospels aka New Testament is that Jesus came so we can see him in a new
light. God isn't boring and he can make you laugh if you really get to know him. As a Shepard he just wants to help us not harm us. As a father he just wants to protect us not let us get eaten by wolves. So, in this blog my overall message is to ask yourself are you still walking in the old version of you. If so, and you want to try something new just ask for his help.
Who knows he might just answer on the first call.
